Composite Fillings
Aesthetic fillings comprise a specialized composite of high-strength resin impregnated with various ceramic filler particles. They are manufactured in multiple colors, which can be mixed so that the filling blends seamlessly with the color of your natural tooth. They have been used routinely in the front of the mouth, but recent improvements in their strength have meant that they now offer a predictable and aesthetic alternative to the silver ‘amalgam’ fillings.
Life Expectancy of Composite Fillings
The life expectancy of composite filling, in general, depends on the depth of the cavity and its position in the mouth; your dentist will always be there to advise you.
Procedure
Composite fillings are more difficult to place than silver fillings, so they can take longer to complete. The main disadvantage is their life expectancy. Aesthetic fillings have always been considered less long-lasting than silver amalgam fillings, but the newer materials are very successful. We only use excellent materials which were subjected to stringent tests and research.
